The rule that allows evidence to be admitted at trial, provided the party submitting it will later present other evidence to show its admissibility or relevance. Typically, the introduction of subsequent evidence will “connect up” the earlier evidence, but if the original evidence is never connected to the case, it will be disregarded by the factfinder.
