A judgeÂ’s order to a party compelling or prohibiting
certain described conduct.
mandatory injunction
An injunction compelling a party to perform an action.
permanent injunction
An injunction granted after a trial on the merits, which
forms part of the final judgment in the case.
preliminary injunction
An injunction granted before trial, to preserve the status
quo pending the courtÂ’s final determination. Also known as an interlocutory injunction.
