noun

Usually, the locality within which the trial or suit will take place, as sometimes there may be several places where jurisdiction could be established. Venue is often a matter of convenience to the parties in a civil suit. In a criminal suit, where it may be difficult to empanel an impartial jury (due to extensive publicity or other considerations), a change of venue may be sought. See also forum nonconveniens.
